Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon has exposed a social media account impersonating him, urging fans to be on guard.

On Tuesday, Hong posted a photo to his Instagram story with the message: "That's not me. People keep asking if it's really me — I don't have a secondary account. Please be careful and watch out for any harm."

The photo shows the profile page of the impersonation account, which uses Hong's name and a photo of him with his face obscured to make it appear to be his official account.

Hong is widely recognized as the first South Korean celebrity to come out publicly as gay, doing so in September 2000.

He made his debut as a musical actor in 1989 while studying at Hanyang University, then joined KBS as a specially recruited reporter in 1994. He went on to make his official television debut through MBC's open talent recruitment in 1996, appearing in drama series, sitcoms and variety programs. He remains active today through variety shows and YouTube.
