A power outage on part of Seoul subway Line 1 disrupted train service Wednesday morning, causing widespread delays during the peak commute hour.

Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) said an electricity supply failure on the southbound section between Changdong and Sinimun stations occurred at around 7:29 a.m. Wednesday, triggering delays and irregular service across the entire Line 1 network.

Korail temporarily suspended southbound train operations between Dobongsan and Cheongnyangni stations and said it was taking emergency measures to restore service.

"The cause of the electricity supply failure is currently under investigation," Korail said. "We will do our utmost to normalize operations as quickly as possible."
