Nexen Tire announced Wednesday that it is working with the Global Data Service Organization (GDSO) on tire lifecycle data management and digital standard development as part of a broader push to strengthen its data-driven mobility capabilities.

According to Nexen Tire, the mobility industry is increasingly moving to treat tires not as simple consumables but as data assets. The goal is to use radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology and digital identification systems to manage data across the entire product lifecycle — from production and retail to installation, maintenance and recycling — improving efficiency and transparency across the industry.

As tires evolve into connected assets capable of collecting and managing data, new business opportunities are expected to emerge across the value chain, spanning manufacturers, fleet operators, service providers and regulators.

Nexen Tire joined the GDSO in January 2024 and has since participated in developing digital standards for the tire industry. The GDSO is a consortium that promotes the standardization and digitalization of tire data to build a global mobility data ecosystem, with major global tire manufacturers and automotive service companies among its members.

Through the GDSO, Nexen Tire is contributing to the development of core technology standards covering tire lifecycle tracking, digital product identification and more efficient data exchange across the value chain.

Most recently, the company presented its data-driven digital mobility strategy and key achievements at The Tire Cologne 2026, a global tire exhibition held in Germany. Alongside this, Nexen Tire unveiled a roadmap for strengthening connectivity with connected vehicles and smart infrastructure, and for advancing data-based sustainable mobility.

"The future of mobility depends on reliable data exchange across the entire value chain," a Nexen Tire official said. "Through our participation in the GDSO, we will actively contribute to building digital standards that drive transparency, efficiency and innovation in the tire industry."

Meanwhile, Nexen Tire recently expanded an automated finished-goods warehouse at its European factory in Zatec, Czech Republic, as part of a strategic investment to boost logistics competitiveness and build a more stable and responsive supply system for customers in the region, in line with rising output at the plant.
