Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday it will hold regular "roving office hours" — a mobile county chief's office — to hear residents' concerns firsthand and incorporate their feedback into local governance.

The initiative reflects county chief An Byeong-yun's governing philosophy that "the answer to every problem lies in the field," and is designed as a regular channel for direct communication with residents.

Sessions will be held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

To encourage candid conversation in a relaxed setting, the meetings will take place not at the county office but at local cafes in an informal tea-time format. On the second Wednesday of each month, An will meet residents at Dansaem Cafe; on the fourth Wednesday, at Clouden Cafe on the second floor of the community complex.

Residents who wish to speak with the county chief can apply in advance through the general affairs division or simply walk in on the day of the session for a one-on-one meeting.

Topics are open-ended, ranging from everyday lifestyle inconveniences and personal grievances to local issues and policy proposals for Yecheon's future.

"This roving office is a commitment not to miss even the smallest voice of our residents, and it will serve as a communication channel for realizing open, trusted governance," An said.
