SSG.com said Wednesday it will introduce a 2-hour delivery service using E-mart stores as logistics hubs, a move aimed at strengthening its online grocery competitiveness by adding speed and immediacy to its existing Ssg delivery service.
The company will begin a pilot program Thursday covering areas near E-mart's Yangjae and Hanam branches, delivering products within two hours of an order being placed. Orders placed by 8 p.m. will be delivered within two hours of the order time. Customers in eligible areas will see a "2-hour delivery available" notice on the app's main screen and at checkout.
SSG.com plans to expand the service from the Yangjae and Hanam stores this month to major Seoul branches — including the Wolgye, Garden5 and Sindorim locations — in August, before rolling it out nationwide in September. The company aims to apply the service to about 50 E-mart stores by year-end.
Han Geon-su, SSG.com's head of supply chain management, said the company will "innovate the online grocery experience by improving delivery speed and convenience."
