Goyang Special City launched village bus route 050 on Wednesday, a new line created to improve mobility for residents in transit-underserved areas.
The route was established to address the inconvenience caused by the discontinuation of customized bus route 60. Before service began, the city publicly recruited transport operators to ensure stable operations and protect the mobility rights of residents in affected areas. Following a review, the city selected Goyang-based carrier Yeosan Transportation Co. as the operator.
Route 050 departs from Ijeon Village Hall and passes through Dungji Village, Cheonga Park, Pureume Village, the base entrance and Jungsan High School before terminating at Haitai Shopping and Jungsan intersection, covering 20 kilometers in total. The city expects the new service to make daily commutes and school trips more convenient for local residents.
The route operates 11 times a day, with the first departure from Ijeon Village Hall at around 5:40 a.m. Headways range from 60 to 100 minutes depending on road conditions and time of day.
The route runs on weekdays only, reflecting demand patterns, and does not operate on weekends or public holidays.
"We expect residents who have struggled to get around since the discontinuation of customized bus route 60 to find route 050 a convenient option," a city official said. "We will continue to listen to residents who lack adequate public transit access and do our best to further improve transportation welfare."
