Shinhan Bank is temporarily suspending new household loans originated through its loan-agent channel.

The bank decided to halt agent-channel loan applications from Wednesday through the end of July, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Shinhan Bank has been managing its loan-agent channel on a monthly quota basis. This month, the quota was exhausted within a week.

A Shinhan Bank official said the move was "a measure to manage the total volume of household lending."

Agent-channel applications will resume on Aug. 3, the first business day of next month.
