Seoul's Gangseo-gu district is pushing to accelerate its urban renewal projects as part of efforts to achieve balanced growth across the area.
The district held a "communication and cooperation meeting" Monday at the district office's main conference room to discuss strategies for advancing renewal projects and strengthen coordination with local city lawmakers.
About 20 people attended, including District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon, city lawmakers Ko Chan-yang, Jang Sang-gi, Song Sun-hyo, Hong Jae-hee and Kim Byeong-jin, and civil servants from the urban renewal division.
Participants shared updates on the 79 urban renewal projects currently underway in the district and discussed administrative support measures to ensure each project proceeds without disruption.
Participants particularly agreed on the need to develop measures to reduce the confusion and conflict residents may face due to the complex procedures and varying characteristics of each project.
"Urban renewal goes beyond simply improving the environment — it is directly tied to residents' lives," Jin said. "We will do our utmost to help residents better understand the projects and ensure each one moves forward without a hitch."
