Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae visited the provincial disaster safety operations center Monday as the monsoon season got underway across the country.

Choo toured the center at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building in Suwon, where officials briefed her on the summer weather outlook, including monsoon forecasts, a comprehensive flood and storm preparedness plan, and the province's disaster response framework.

"Rain is forecast to intensify through Wednesday, so please stay focused, keep a close watch, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks at the scene," Choo told staff. "I sincerely hope this passes without incident, but accidents can happen suddenly anywhere. Please keep emergency communication lines in good order."

To prepare for summer flooding and storm damage, the province has activated a joint government-municipal-private task force for disaster prevention, completing inspections of roughly 960,000 vulnerable facilities across the region and continuing follow-up management.
