Korea Investment & Securities announced Sunday it will co-host the "5th HanTu Battle Stock Trading Competition" with fashion platform Musinsa.
Running through July 31, the competition is the first of its kind jointly organized by a brokerage and a fashion and beauty platform. It is designed to blend investment and fashion in a way that feels accessible and enjoyable to customers in their 20s and 30s.
A variety of programs will run on the Korea Investment & Securities app throughout the competition period. New participants will have a chance to win prizes through a roulette event.
An "Investment Fit of the Day (OOTD)" event will also be held, in which participants who verify their investment activity and share their personal style on social media will receive Musinsa Money gift vouchers.
Participants can also earn various rewards by completing weekly trading missions or simply by meeting certain conditions, regardless of their competition standing.
A joint event linking the two companies' platforms will run through July 15. The first 20,000 users who sign up for the "Random Share Giveaway" through the Musinsa app will receive one randomly selected share from among Kospi 200 constituent stocks and major exchange-traded funds.
Additional benefits are available for new customers. Twenty winners selected by draw from those who open a Korea Investment & Securities "BanKIS" brokerage account through the event will each receive one additional share of Samsung Electronics. Customers who separately participate in a new-user event on the Korea Investment & Securities app can also receive a buy-one-get-one share of a Kospi 200 constituent stock, bringing the maximum total to four shares.
Kwak Jin, head of the eBiz division at Korea Investment & Securities, said the competition "breaks away from the conventional trading contest format that focused solely on return rates, and is a new attempt to show that investing can be one enjoyable lifestyle choice." He added that the company would "continue to roll out new programs through collaboration with a diverse range of industries."
Korea Investment & Securities has been running a series of events aimed at younger generations. In June, it held a financial education program called "BanKIS College Student Class Up Open House" for about 250 undergraduate and graduate students, covering trends in the financial industry and investment while sharing firsthand experience of working in the securities sector.
