Ulsan city will run its "2026 Free Vehicle Safety Inspection" program three times this year in partnership with the Ulsan Metropolitan City Automobile Specialized Maintenance Business Cooperative, aiming to promote safe driving and prevent traffic accidents.
The first round of free inspections will be held Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., open to passenger cars and vans owned by Ulsan residents.
Inspections will take place at 67 member shops affiliated with the cooperative, distributed across the city: 14 in Jung-gu, 19 in Nam-gu, 9 in Dong-gu, 11 in Buk-gu and 14 in Ulju-gun. Residents wishing to participate should bring their vehicle registration certificate and visit the shop in the district where their vehicle is registered.
Services include oil checks and top-ups, inspections of key components such as the drivetrain and tires, and free replacement of consumables including wiper blades and brake bulbs.
A city official said the free inspection program was reclassified as a subsidy-supported project following an ordinance revision in April to better protect public safety, adding that two more rounds are planned for the second half of the year, including one around the Chuseok holiday.
