Residents invited to help craft the vision for the 9th elected-term administration — submissions accepted through July 10; winning entry earns a 500,000-won prize
Seoul's Yongsan-gu, led by District Mayor Kim Gyeong-dae, is holding a public contest to select a district slogan and administrative goals that will define the vision and core values of the 9th elected-term administration.
The contest was organized to coincide with the launch of the new administration and to establish a fresh direction for Yongsan's governance. Officials say the initiative is meaningful because it seeks to uncover phrases that capture the district's core values and future vision while drawing residents into the process of shaping the administration's blueprint.
The contest covers two categories: a district slogan and administrative goals. The slogan must be fewer than 20 characters and should express Yongsan's values and vision in a concise, memorable phrase.
Entries for the administrative goals category should propose practical directions across five areas: administration, safety, culture and tourism, the local economy, and welfare and education.
The submission window runs July 6 through July 10 at 6 p.m. Anyone with an interest in Yongsan district affairs is eligible to participate.
Entries may be submitted via a QR code posted on the Yongsan-gu website under the "9th Elected-Term Yongsan-gu District Vision Contest" page. Submissions by post or in person are also accepted at the Planning and Budget Division on the eighth floor of the district office at 150 Noksapyeong-daero.
Submitted entries will be evaluated on symbolism, creativity, coherence and practicality. Final results will be announced in late July, and the winner will receive a prize of 500,000 won ($322).
The winning slogan and administrative goals will be used to communicate the policy vision and operational direction of the 9th elected-term Yongsan-gu administration to both internal and external audiences, serving as the district's defining phrase for its identity and future aspirations.
"We organized this contest at the starting point of the 9th elected-term administration because we want to craft a slogan and goals that capture Yongsan's values and future vision together with our residents," District Mayor Kim said. "We hope many residents will take part and bring their fresh ideas and diverse perspectives."
