Lee Seung-jun (22), the second son of 2002 FIFA World Cup legend Lee Eul-yong, is set to move to European football.

K League 2 club Yongin FC announced Wednesday that Lee, who has been on loan with the club this season, will join German third-division side FC Saarbrücken.

Lee made his professional debut in 2023 with K League 1 side FC Seoul before transferring to UAE club Korfakkan in September 2024. He joined Yongin on loan this year, making 12 appearances and scoring three goals.

A club official said Lee's determination to pursue a career in Europe had been unwavering. "We decided that respecting the player's career development and his dream of competing on a bigger stage was more important than the short-term loss to our squad," the official said.

FC Saarbrücken, a storied German club, also actively pursued the signing after highly rating Lee's potential.

Yongin FC general manager Kim Jin-hyung praised Lee's contribution to the team. "Seung-jun was a valuable asset who brought great energy to the squad this season," Kim said. "He has long dreamed of playing in Europe, and we sincerely hope he grows even further in Germany and develops into a player who represents Korean football."

Lee expressed his gratitude upon departing. "I gained a lot of experience and confidence at Yongin FC," he said. "I am thankful for the club's care and support, and I will repay them by showing how much I have grown on the German stage."

Lee Seung-jun is the second son of Lee Eul-yong, a key figure in South Korea's run to the semifinals at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. His older brother, Lee Tae-seok, has been playing in Austria since August 2025 after stints with FC Seoul and Pohang Steelers, and also featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America.
