Four-item menu blends Korean and New York culinary traditions

Shake Shack announced Friday it will release a four-item "Heritage Collection" developed in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Son Jong-won to mark its 10th anniversary in South Korea.

The flagship item, the Heritage Tteokgalbi Shack, is a burger that brings together Korean and New York culinary traditions. It features a buckwheat bun developed exclusively by Shake Shack Korea, a tteokgalbi patty paired with a beef patty, and an ash mayo sauce made with grilled green onions. The collection also includes the Heritage Smoke Fry, finished with the same ash mayo sauce for a distinctly Korean umami flavor, as well as the Heritage Yuzu Yakgwa Shake and Concrete, both topped with yakgwa and yuzu sauce.

Chef Son leads Michelin-starred restaurants Itanic Garden and La Maison Cikret, drawing wide attention from the culinary world at home and abroad. He plans to donate all royalty proceeds from sales of the collaboration items to support vulnerable communities.

From Friday through July 12, the Happy Point app will run a random coupon event in which customers who order the Heritage Tteokgalbi Shack receive one randomly selected discount — either 10 percent off, 20 percent off, or 10,000 won ($6) off. A set upgrade coupon will also be available through Shake Shack's KakaoTalk channel through July 31.
