Gijang-gun is expanding eligibility for its jeonse (long-term deposit lease) loan interest support project for non-homeowning households with multiple children, aiming to ease housing costs and create more stable living conditions for such families.

According to Gijang-gun on Thursday, the project previously covered non-homeowning households with three or more children aged 18 or under whose income fell at or below 180 percent of the median, providing up to 1 million won ($643) — within 1.5 percent of the outstanding jeonse loan balance. Starting this year, eligibility expands to non-homeowning households with two or more children aged 18 or under.

However, those already receiving support through similar programs — including basic livelihood security recipients who benefit from housing allowances and residents of public rental housing — are excluded. Borrowers under the National Housing Fund loan program must also cover 1 percent of their outstanding loan balance out of pocket.

Applications will be accepted from July 31 through Aug. 31. Residents can apply in person at the eup or myeon administrative welfare center in their area of residence.
