Card integrates more than 20 government voucher types

Hyundai Card announced Wednesday that it has launched the "Gukmin Haengbok Hyundai Card," a credit card that consolidates more than 20 types of government vouchers supporting citizens through key life stages such as pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing.

The Gukmin Haengbok card is an integrated electronic voucher card that lets holders use national vouchers issued by government ministries and agencies — including the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, the National Health Insurance Service and the Korea Social Security Information Service — on a single credit card. The card supports 23 voucher types in total, including the First Meeting voucher, national health insurance pregnancy and childbirth medical expense support, child-care support, disability activity support and energy vouchers.

The card's key feature is a 5% M Point reward on spending in six categories: Costco, medical services (hospitals and pharmacies), education (daycare centers, kindergartens and similar), telecommunications (SK Telecom, KT Corp and LG Uplus), rental services (Coway and LG Electronics) and online shopping (Naver Plus Store, G Market and others). All other merchants earn 0.5% back in M Points. The rewards apply when the previous month's spending reaches 300,000 won ($193) or more. The card carries no annual fee.

The card also supports Apple Pay — Hyundai Card is currently the only card issuer in South Korea offering Apple Pay compatibility. Alongside this, cardholders can use the "M Emergency Accumulation" service, which allows them to pre-load up to 500,000 M Points for immediate use when needed. M Points can be redeemed at fuel and auto-service locations (GS Caltex and Hyundai and Kia official service centers), restaurants (Outback Steakhouse, Mr. Pizza and others), convenience and retail stores (Seven-Eleven and others) and entertainment venues (Lotte Cinema, Megabox and others).
