Gunwi-gun in Daegu held the inauguration ceremony for Kim Jin-yeol, the 44th county chief and first elected under the ninth round of local elections, at the main auditorium of the Samguk Yusa Education and Culture Center on Wednesday.

About 700 people attended, including National Assembly member Kang Dae-sik, city council member Park Chang-seok, newly inaugurated members of the 10th Gunwi-gun Council, and representatives from religion, business, culture, women's groups and agriculture, as well as local residents and former residents who have moved away.

Kim began his official schedule that morning with a visit to the Chunghontap war memorial, then held a luncheon with county office staff who will work alongside him to realize the ninth administration's vision.

The main ceremony began at 2 p.m. and included the national pledge, a video screening of residents' messages of hope, the oath of office, an inaugural address, and a performance announcing the seven key visions for the ninth administration.

Through the vision announcement performance, Kim presented seven priorities: developing a future growth city centered on the airport and military base, building a vibrant residential city, establishing a sustainable rural community, nurturing an education-focused city of talent, creating a tourism destination that draws extended stays, strengthening a lifelong care system, and realizing open and transparent county governance.

In his inaugural address, Kim said the ninth administration "will be a time to translate the achievements we have made into real change and happiness in the lives of our residents." He added that he would "vigorously open an era of greater prosperity, with the goal of building a growth city for the next 100 years and a dignified city of happiness."
