Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corp. (HUG) said Tuesday that it marked its 33rd anniversary with a joint labor-management community service event for vulnerable residents in Busan.
About 20 employees, including HUG President Choi In-ho, took part in the event, which was organized to promote community partnership and social value. The volunteers delivered a donation of around 20 million won ($12,900) before splitting into two teams — one to serve meals to homeless people and another to assemble daily-necessity packages for elderly households.
The first team visited a welfare center for the homeless in Dong-gu, Busan, where they served meals prepared with locally sourced produce sponsored by the company, adding a community-partnership dimension to the effort. The second team then moved to a senior welfare center in Dong-gu, where they assembled "hope packages" — bundles of rice and ready-to-eat foods — and hand-delivered them to about 80 underprivileged households in the area.
"On the occasion of HUG's 33rd anniversary, it was meaningful for labor and management to come together and share warm meals and daily necessities with our neighbors in Busan," President Choi said. "HUG will continue to pursue community contribution projects that embody the spirit of local partnership."
Meanwhile, HUG carries out its corporate social responsibility activities under three core themes: residential welfare, urban regeneration and the practice of sharing.
