Ulleung-gun in North Gyeongsang Province is reorganizing its administrative zones to resolve a mismatch between official boundaries and residents' actual living areas.

According to Ulleung-gun, the legal zone designation of Dodong 3-ri, which falls under Dodong-ri in Ulleung-eup, will change to Jeodong-ri effective Tuesday. Addresses and lot numbers in the affected area will be updated accordingly.

The county is also renaming 11 administrative ri to better reflect local history.

The changes are as follows: Namyang 3-ri becomes Tonggumi-ri, Namseo 1-ri becomes Namseo-ri, Namseo 2-ri becomes Guam-ri, Taeha 1-ri becomes Taeha-ri, Taeha 2-ri becomes Hakpo-ri, Cheonbu 1-ri becomes Cheonbu-ri, Cheonbu 2-ri becomes Boncheonbu-ri, Cheonbu 3-ri becomes Jugam-ri, Cheonbu 4-ri becomes Seokpo-ri, Hyeonpo 1-ri becomes Hyeonpo-ri, and Hyeonpo 2-ri becomes Pyeong-ri.

Ulleung-gun finalized the reorganization after commissioning a research study on boundary adjustments, gathering resident input, consulting relevant agencies, and amending related ordinances.

The county has completed updates to its administrative information systems and will progressively update road-name address signs and public facility markers.

"This reorganization corrects the administrative framework around residents' actual living zones and restores the region's historical identity and community character," Ulleung-gun chief Nam Han-kwon said. "We will continue to pursue on-the-ground administration that residents can feel directly, and work to improve the quality of life for all county residents."
