Inauguration ceremony set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cheongchun Gymnasium
Kim Wang-gyu was inaugurated as Yanggu-gun chief Wednesday morning at Cheongchun Gymnasium, with about 500 residents and guests in attendance. The slogan for his ninth directly elected term is "A Future We Open Together, a Yanggu Worth Living In," reflecting his pledge to build a foundation for sustainable growth through change and innovation alongside residents and to make Yanggu a place where all its people can feel genuine happiness.
The county administration's guiding principles are "a reliable Yanggu, a prosperous Yanggu, a Yanggu people stay in, and a Yanggu full of opportunity." Kim plans to run the county government around four core values: improving residents' quality of life, revitalizing the local economy, expanding the foundation for future growth, and delivering resident-centered administration.
Key priorities include a resident-participatory renewable energy project to establish a Yanggu-style energy pension program, development of a transit-oriented area around the east-west high-speed railway, a four-lane expansion of National Route 46, expansion of smart agriculture, promotion of extended-stay tourism, and welfare policies that residents can feel directly.
The first official act Kim will sign as the 38th Yanggu-gun chief is expected to be the formation of a dedicated task force to address issues surrounding foreign seasonal workers.
The measure makes resolving the foreign seasonal worker problem the top priority from the outset of the ninth directly elected term. Administrative resources will focus on minimizing damage to farming households and building a stable management system for foreign seasonal workers.
"I will build a county government that opens the future together with residents," Kim said. "I will find answers on the ground, communicate constantly with residents, and do my utmost to make Yanggu a place worth living in for everyone."
