Yeongyang-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Tuesday that it will hold the 2026 Yeongyang Birch Forest Online Photo Contest.

Held under the slogan "Recording Yeongyang's Hidden Treasure, the Birch Forest," the contest is open in two categories: general photography and smartphone photography.

Participants can download the application form from the Yeongyang-gun website, fill it out and submit it along with original photo files by email no later than July 31.

Each entrant may submit up to three works.

Winners will be announced Aug. 14 on the Yeongyang-gun website. A total of 3.5 million won ($2,270) in prize money will be awarded to 24 recipients, including the top prize winner in each category.

Outstanding works selected through judging will be archived and used for Yeongyang-gun's tourism promotion, exhibitions and regional branding efforts.

"I hope this contest becomes an opportunity to rediscover the value of the birch forest — a precious forest asset of Yeongyang — and to experience the beauty of the region," Yeongyang-gun Mayor Oh Do-chang said. "We look forward to the enthusiastic participation of photography enthusiasts."
