Samsung Electronics, SK hynix among major firms set to participate

Cheong Wa Dae announced Tuesday that President Lee Jae Myung will hold three consecutive public briefings centered on major regional growth hubs, in Gwangju, Asan and Jinju.

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a statement that Lee will host the series of public forums beginning Tuesday, following Monday's national briefing on the "Three Mega-Projects for Korea's Great Leap Forward."

The first event, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, is a public forum on an advanced industry development vision for the southwestern region. Participating companies include Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and Amkor Technology Korea.

On July 2, Lee will hold a similar forum focused on the Chungcheong region in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, with Samsung, SK hynix and Celltrion among the advanced industry firms expected to attend.

On July 3, Lee will chair a forum on the Yeongnam region in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, with Samsung Electronics, SK Telecom, Hyundai Motor and Hanwha participating.

The forums signal Lee's intent to personally lead the rollout of the government's regional advanced industry development plans, starting with the southwest. Lee has repeatedly emphasized balanced national development and a growth leap toward making South Korea irreplaceable on the global stage.
