The Hwaseong Independence Movement Memorial Hall is running its 2026 Cultural Tour Program for Culturally Underserved Groups.

Themed "I, Too, Am a Foreign Independence Activist," the program invites foreign resident groups to explore the memorial hall's permanent exhibition and its history and culture park, offering an accessible introduction to the independence movement's historical significance in the Hwaseong region.

The program runs from June through November.

Participants listen to guided commentary in the permanent exhibition, then write independence messages in their native languages, make Taegukgi pinwheels and tour the history and culture park. The program also guides visitors through Hwaseong's independence movement history from the perspective of foreign activists — including Dr. Frank Schofield — and uses the pinwheel-making activity to convey the values of peace and solidarity.

The program operates with interpreter support provided under an MOU with the Hwaseong City Foreign Residents Welfare Center. The first two showings, held in collaboration with the center as the initial outcome of that partnership, drew strong interest and enthusiasm from participants.
