Hyundai Motor has opened its Suwon Hi-Tech Center, an advanced vehicle service facility equipped with smart robotics and data analysis technology to deliver fast and accurate maintenance. The company said the center is designed to handle complex repairs and serve as a key hub for the era of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and future mobility.

Hyundai Motor held an opening ceremony Tuesday at the newly built center in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with full operations set to begin Wednesday. The facility relocates and replaces a previous center that operated in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, and is expected to become the primary service technology hub for southern Gyeonggi Province.

The ceremony was attended by Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon, Hyundai Motor President Jose Munoz, Hyundai Glovis President Lee Gyu-bok, Hyundai E&C Executive Vice President Lee Han-woo, Hyundai Mobis Executive Vice President Son Chan-mo, and Seo Architects CEO Seo Eul-ho, among others.

The Suwon Hi-Tech Center spans 51,497 square meters across two below-ground and five above-ground floors, making it the largest such facility in southern Gyeonggi Province. The ground floor houses a customer lounge called the Atrium, a vehicle intake area, consultation booths, and a Genesis merchandise exhibition space. Floors two through four are dedicated to Hyundai Motor and Genesis vehicle maintenance, while the basement levels contain an automated parts warehouse. Electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle charging stations are installed outside.

Hyundai Motor said the building was designed in a circular tower form to serve as a local landmark. The exterior features louvers to maximize natural lighting, and the rooftop is fitted with solar panels and a shading system to improve energy efficiency.

The interior layout was designed with both customer experience and space efficiency in mind. The first-floor Atrium uses a circular, open structure that allows customers to observe the entire process — from consultation to vehicle intake. Key spaces on each floor are arranged in a ring around the central elevator and stairwell, ensuring ease of movement and uniform access to natural light and views.

Automation and advanced diagnostics cut wait times; fully reservation-based

Hyundai Motor said the Suwon Hi-Tech Center is the first of its hi-tech centers to reinterpret the company's service philosophy of "speed, accuracy and courtesy" for the future mobility environment.

The center's most distinctive feature is what Hyundai Motor calls its first smart mobility-based automated maintenance environment. For parts transport, the facility employs three types of autonomous robots — an autonomous mobile robot (AMR), an autonomous guided robot (AGR) and an autonomous case robot (ACR) — along with an unmanned car lift system to optimize workflow. A remote diagnostic service platform (RDSP) also analyzes vehicle data before a car arrives, boosting maintenance efficiency.

The center has also strengthened its capacity for complex vehicle diagnostics. A newly built data and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) analysis room can diagnose noise, video and controller communications, enabling technicians to identify even hard-to-trace defects. A joint quality analysis room allows real-time information sharing with Hyundai Motor's research institute to rapidly pinpoint the causes of complex vehicle faults.

Leveraging its automated service environment and advanced diagnostic capabilities, the Suwon Hi-Tech Center will handle precision repair work and collaborate closely with Hyundai Motor's Blue Hands service network nationwide to meet customer demand. The center will also operate as a regional training center (RTC), providing both theoretical and hands-on instruction to Blue Hands engineers.

The customer service model has also changed. The center has introduced a dedicated one-on-one engineer system, in which a single technician oversees a vehicle from intake to delivery. Operating entirely on a reservation basis eliminates waiting times, and digital services — including kiosk check-in, mobile notifications and mobile payments — add further convenience.

Hyundai Motor plans to gradually upgrade the Suwon Hi-Tech Center and its 22 other hi-tech centers nationwide into precision diagnostic and advanced repair hubs capable of handling SDVs and the electrification era.

"The service floor is an important space where we build trust with our customers," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will continue to upgrade our nationwide service network to deliver the highest quality of service and a differentiated customer experience."
