Relay campaign to improve Incheon community spaces
Winner of 'Hana Art Bus' competition for artists with developmental disabilities joins effort
More than 30 employees take part to spread inclusive values
Hana Financial Group said Sunday it held a mural-painting volunteer activity at the Gajwa Youth Center in Seo-gu, Incheon, together with a winner of "Hana Art Bus," its art competition for artists with developmental disabilities.
The activity was part of the group's "Incheon Community Environment Improvement Relay Campaign," a monthly initiative it has run since April in the lead-up to its planned headquarters relocation to Incheon's Cheongna International City in September.
It marked the third installment of the campaign, following a mural project at the Incheon Yeonhui Senior Cultural Center in April and a plogging event at Gangnam Market in Seo-gu in May. The series reflects the group's broader push to deepen ties with the local community ahead of the Cheongna move.
The activity gained added significance from the participation of Kang Won-jin, an artist with a developmental disability and a winner of the "Hana Art Bus" competition, which the group runs as a flagship corporate social responsibility program to raise awareness of disability and promote a culture of inclusion.
Kang won an excellence award at the third Hana Art Bus competition in 2024 and also took part in the "Hana Art Bus Goods Donation Campaign" in April, contributing designs for merchandise including T-shirts and eco-friendly dishcloths. All proceeds from merchandise sales went to a fund supporting the social participation and economic independence of artists with developmental disabilities.
More than 30 employees volunteered for the activity, painting murals in the corridors and program rooms of the Gajwa Youth Center based on two of Kang's works — "Gaze" and "What Are You Doing?"
"We hope young people will look at these murals — drawn from the distinctive perspective of an artist with a developmental disability — and grow into members of society with warm hearts and creative ideas," an official from Hana Financial Group's ESG planning team said. "As we enter a new chapter in Cheongna, we will continue to expand our inclusive finance efforts and share diverse social values with the local community."
Meanwhile, Hana Financial Group's Hana Dream Town development project is set to reach completion with the headquarters relocation in September, the third and final phase following the establishment of an integrated data center in 2017 and the Hana Global Campus in 2019. The group plans to use Hana Dream Town as a base to strengthen its digital finance capabilities and expand its global business.
