Woo Sang-ho, the incoming governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, will begin his term Wednesday by paying his respects at the Chungnyeoltap memorial before visiting the 119 emergency operations center to encourage firefighters on the front lines of public safety.

He will then sign his first official order, focusing on the new administration's top priority, before visiting the press room and local media outlets to deliver his inaugural greetings and outline the direction of his governorship.

The formal inauguration ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at Gangwon National University's Baengnyeong Arts Center, with about 1,000 attendees expected — including provincial residents' representatives, provincial office staff, invited guests, heads of institutions and organizations, and National Assembly lawmakers.

During a performance at the ceremony, representatives from across Gangwon society — including youth, farmers, fishers, senior citizens, small-business owners and people with disabilities — will join the governor in expressing their shared commitment to building the future of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province together with its residents.

The inaugural address is expected to lay out the governing vision for the ninth directly elected provincial administration, including its policy direction and pledges to residents. The ceremony will also feature a video presentation on Woo's story and celebratory performances by the provincial traditional music orchestra and the Chuncheon City Choir.

"The inauguration is not merely a ceremonial event — it is the first step toward fulfilling my promises to the people of Gangwon," Woo said Wednesday. "I will focus every effort on restoring livelihoods and revitalizing the local economy so that residents can feel their lives are genuinely improving."
