Seocho-gu kicks off its 'Golden Age 2 Fast-Start 100-Day Project' alongside the launch of the ninth elected-term administration, forming a dedicated task force to fast-track key campaign pledges in reconstruction, AI industry, youth policy and private mixed-use development
"We will concentrate our administrative capacity on key future-growth sectors and complete 'Seocho Golden Age 2' together with our residents."
Those were the words of Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su as he formally launched the "Seocho Golden Age 2 Fast-Start 100-Day Project," an initiative designed to accelerate the district's core campaign pledges from the very start of the ninth elected-term administration.
The project runs for 100 days from July 1 — the official launch date of the ninth elected term — through Oct. 8, with the aim of laying the groundwork for completing "Seocho Golden Age 2" within the first 100 days of the district mayor's tenure.
The district plans to move beyond the eighth elected term's focus on "daily recovery" — which centered on resident safety, welfare support, livelihoods and public health — and shift its administrative energy in the ninth term toward "future growth," concentrating on reconstruction, the AI industry, youth policy and private mixed-use development.
The district intends to launch key campaign pledge projects early in the term through swift administration, delivering tangible results that residents can feel. To that end, it has established a dedicated body — the "Seocho Golden Age 2 Fast-Start 100-Day Project Task Force" — to serve as a control tower overseeing the entire initiative. The task force comprises a general coordination unit and four sector-specific working groups, and will act as the central hub for cross-departmental collaboration.
In the reconstruction sector, the district will operate a "Mobile Reconstruction Rapid Support Team" to prevent disputes during redevelopment projects and shorten permit processing times. The team will visit project sites at each stage of development to hear concerns and devise solutions, while continuously monitoring progress schedules and key issues.
In the AI industry sector, the district will form a panel of expert advisers to attract and promote AI and other emerging growth industries. Sector specialists will be consulted and their recommendations incorporated into policy.
In the youth policy sector, the district will launch a project called "Real Youth Policy TOP 10 — Made with 50 Youth Popcorn Members," in which young people directly shape policy. The initiative will incorporate the voices of youth from the earliest stage of policy development, translating them into concrete measures that resonate with young residents.
In the private mixed-use development sector, the district will form a public-private working consultative body and finalize an early-launch road map. It will hold a public briefing on the strategic environmental impact assessment for the Wirye-Gwacheon Line, and lay the groundwork for major mixed-use development projects including the underground routing of the Gyeongbu arterial road, the mixed-use redevelopment of Seoul Express Bus Terminal and the Yangjae urban advanced logistics complex.
Over the 100-day period, the task force will hold regular meetings to review progress on each initiative and strengthen cross-departmental cooperation. The district will also accelerate detailed sector plans, complete key projects and hold a final results briefing to ensure systematic execution.
In addition, the district plans to gather broad resident input and translate it into resident-centered policies that people can feel in their daily lives.
"From the moment the ninth elected term begins, we will lead Seocho's transformation through faster, more agile administration," District Mayor Jeon said. "Going forward, we will concentrate our administrative capacity on key future-growth sectors — reconstruction, the AI industry, youth policy and private mixed-use development — and complete 'Seocho Golden Age 2' together with residents, on the ground."
