Busan Port Authority (BPA) held the North Port Promenade Running Event on June 27 in the North Port redevelopment zone, giving citizens a firsthand look at the newly developed waterfront pedestrian spaces, the agency announced Monday.

The event was designed to build public awareness and affinity for the North Port redevelopment project by letting residents experience its results directly. Participants selected through a public application process joined members of BPA's in-house running club. BPA President Song Sang-geun also drew notice by completing the 5-kilometer course alongside them.

The route began at the multipurpose plaza in North Port Waterfront Park, passed through the history park and the coastal passenger terminal, looped back at BPA headquarters, and finished at the No. 6 pedestrian bridge at North Port Marina. Participants ran along waterfront spaces bordering the sea, taking in the transformed landscape of the North Port area.

"This running event was more than a simple sports occasion — it was a meaningful opportunity for citizens to set foot in and feel for themselves the waterfront spaces transformed through the North Port redevelopment," Song said.
