The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Yeongjong Police Station will officially open Wednesday.

The station's launch coincides with the establishment of Yeongjong-gu, a newly created administrative district in Incheon formed through the reorganization of Jung-gu and Dong-gu on Wednesday.

The station will have jurisdiction over all of Yeongjong-gu, including Yeongjongdo and Muuido, as well as Bukdo-myeon in Ongjin-gun, covering the islands of Shindo, Sido, Modo and Jangbongdo.

The station will be responsible for the safety of approximately 140,000 residents and will operate out of a temporary facility at 6-13 Haneuldalbit-ro 64beon-gil, Jungsan-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, until a permanent headquarters is built.

Senior Superintendent Yu Dong-bae will serve as the station's inaugural chief, leading an organization of eight divisions and four local substations.
