Kinoc bookings up 7.8 percentage points year on year
Travelizy domestic package reservations rise 43.8%
Kyowon Group launches summer peak-season packages
Bookings at hotels operated by Kyowon Group have climbed as more Koreans opt for domestic vacations this summer, deterred by high oil prices and a weak won that have made overseas travel more expensive.
Kyowon Group said Monday that an analysis of July–August peak-season reservation data for Sweet Hotel Jeju and Kinoc showed booking rates rose 16.7 percentage points and 7.8 percentage points, respectively, compared with the same period last year. Domestic package reservations through its travel platform Travelizy also increased 43.8 percent over the same period.
The group attributed the trend to growing demand for short-haul domestic destinations as the cost of overseas travel rises. Jeju Island in particular has seen a surge in bookings driven by family travelers, which the company said was the main factor behind Sweet Hotel Jeju's strong performance.
Kinoc, a pet-friendly hotel in Gyeongju, also posted higher occupancy on the back of rising demand for travel with pets. The company said the increase reflects both a growing pet-owning population and a preference among customers to vacation domestically with their animals rather than abroad.
Kyowon Group is rolling out summer packages to meet the uptick in demand. Sweet Hotel Jeju has launched the "Cozy Summer in Jeju" package, which includes one night's accommodation along with discount vouchers for shaved ice desserts, ades and a cabana. Guests staying two or more nights receive chicken tenders and french fries.
Kinoc has introduced a "Chicken Time Package" for guests and their pets, bundling one night's stay with a boneless fried chicken box, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), two draft beers and a pet-specific chicken treat.
"As demand grows for domestic rest and leisure amid high oil prices and a weak won, occupancy rates at Sweet Hotel Jeju and Kinoc are on the rise," a Kyowon Group official said. "We will continue to enhance the customer experience through packages that reflect seasonal trends and travel preferences."
