Korea shares development experience and digital budget accounting system to strengthen financial cooperation network

South Korea's Ministry of Finance and Economy is hosting a training program for mid-level civil servants from finance ministries and central banks across 13 Asian countries to share the country's experience in economic and financial policy.

The ministry said the 21st Asian Mid-Level Officials Invitational Training Program will run for two weeks from Monday through July 10. Participants include mid-level officials from finance ministries and central banks in eight ASEAN member states, Mongolia and four Central Asian countries.

The program has run since 2006 as a flagship international cooperation initiative aimed at strengthening economic and financial ties between South Korea and its ASEAN, Mongolian and Central Asian partners. Over the years, participants have received briefings on Korea's economic development experience and policy practices, and the program has served as a channel for exchanges among policymakers.

This year's sessions will feature experts from academia, research institutes and public institutions presenting key Korean economic and financial policy cases, including the development of capital markets and the digital budget accounting system known as dBrain.

Participants are also scheduled to visit major financial institutions and industry sites, including Korea Exchange and Toss Bank, to observe their operations and exchange policy experiences with staff. Cultural programs have been arranged alongside the training to deepen participants' understanding of Korean society and culture.

The ministry said it expects the program to further solidify policy exchanges and personal networks with Asian countries while deepening mutual understanding in the economic and financial fields.
