Yeongdeungpo-gu District Chief Choi Ho-kwon inspects the construction site.

Yeongdeungpo-gu District Chief Choi Ho-kwon visited the Yeongdeungpo Rotary structural improvement construction site on June 25 to check on progress.

The demolition of the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass was completed in April last year. A temporary 11-lane straight road was built in its place, improving conditions in the surrounding area.

Work is currently underway to lay stormwater inlet pipes for a new "Yeongdeungpo Stormwater Pumping Station" beneath the rotary. Alongside this, the district is carrying out road leveling and paving work, with a target completion date of September 2027. Once all construction phases are finished, the area will feature a wide 14-lane road reminiscent of an airport runway.

"The Yeongdeungpo Rotary structural improvement project will prevent chronic traffic congestion and accidents, and the new stormwater pumping station will also resolve the area's recurring flooding problem," Choi said. "I hope construction will be completed without a hitch, with resident inconvenience kept to a minimum and thorough safety management maintained throughout."
