Seoul's Dongdaemun-gu district said the 2026 Cheongnyangni General Market 4th Moonlight Outing festival, held Saturday at the market's parking lot, wrapped up to a strong turnout.

Organized by Cheongnyangni General Market, the event transformed the market's parking lot into a festival venue. Visitors and local residents mingled throughout the day as the program featured hands-on activity booths, food stalls, opening performances, a market singing contest and main stage performances.

Dongdaemun-gu District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung and mayor-elect Choi Dong-min both attended the event, touring the venue together and greeting merchants and residents. The two also encouraged market officials working to revitalize the traditional market.

The Moonlight Outing is Cheongnyangni General Market's signature annual event, launched the year after Mayor Lee took office and now in its fourth edition. This year's gathering carried added significance as the incumbent mayor and his successor attended side by side, symbolizing continuity in local commercial revitalization and community harmony from the eighth to the ninth elected administration.

"Cheongnyangni General Market is growing into an open space where merchants and residents can laugh and mingle together," Lee said. "I hope traditional markets will continue to serve as the heart of the local economy and a lifestyle destination that residents love to visit."
