T'way Air announced Sunday that it is recruiting new Boeing 737 first officers, with applications open through 2 p.m. on July 6 via the airline's official recruitment website.

Applicants must hold a domestic airline transport pilot license (land multiengine) or a commercial pilot license (land multiengine). Those with a commercial pilot license may apply only with an instrument rating.

Candidates must also have a minimum of 250 total flight hours, excluding rear-seat and rotary-wing time, along with a valid Class 1 aviation medical certificate issued in South Korea and an aviation English proficiency rating of 4 or higher. Flight hours will be recognized only as documented in the supporting materials submitted at the time of initial application.

Applicants must hold a valid domestic aviation radio operator certificate and a jet type rating. Those without a jet rating may apply on the condition that they obtain it before joining. Candidates with a B737 type rating will receive preferential consideration.

The selection process begins with a document review and aptitude assessment, followed by a written exam, a first-round interview, a practical skills test and a second-round interview. Successful candidates are expected to join the company in November.

Meanwhile, T'way Air returned to profitability for the first time in eight quarters in the first quarter of this year, posting a standalone operating profit of 19.95 billion won ($12.9 million), driven by a recovery in short-haul route demand and stronger competitiveness on medium- and long-haul routes. Sales rose 37 percent year-on-year to 612.24 billion won.
