Nowon-gu District Chief Oh Seung-rok held the opening ceremony for Jump, the district-run adventure theme park, at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Built across from the energy-zero housing complex in Hagye-dong, Jump sits on a site of 14,063 square meters with a total floor area of 8,612 square meters across two above-ground floors, making it the largest single-building indoor sports and recreation facility in the country.
Oh introduced the facility to distinguished guests — including Wu Won-shik, National Assembly member for Nowon-gap and former Assembly Speaker; Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Climate, Environment and Energy and National Assembly member for Nowon-eul; Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon; Nowon-gu District Chief-elect Seo Jun-o; and Nowon-gu Council Speaker Son Yeong-jun — and joined them for a go-kart ride.
Jump features five attractions: Battle Drift karts, Sky Glider aerial zip rides, Clip 'n Climb artificial rock walls and a sky trail, Play Interactive VR experiences, and a laser-tag survival game.
Alongside the opening ceremony, Jump will offer free trial experiences for registered participants on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a soft-opening period through July 5 with admission at a 50 percent discount. However, some attractions, including the Battle Drift karts, will not be available during the soft-opening period. A full official opening with all attractions in operation is planned for sometime in September.
"We put great effort into creating a space captivating enough that visitors would want to spend the whole day here," Oh said. "I hope this becomes a place where children and teenagers can run freely, have fun and grow — without worrying about the weather, all year round."
