An internet user who posted hundreds of malicious comments targeting actor Kim Kyu-ri has been sentenced to one year in prison.

On Sunday, Kim shared the court ruling on her Instagram, writing, "I'm letting people know in advance — those who come into someone else's space to throw filth."

According to the ruling, the Daejeon District Court found a man identified only by his surname Lee guilty on June 22 of posting insulting content about Kim more than 565 times and sentenced him to one year in prison. The posts appeared over an extended period on public boards of the online community DCInside.

The court said it factored into sentencing that "the defendant's actions caused actor Kim Kyu-ri severe psychological distress."

After sharing the ruling, Kim warned those who post malicious comments, writing: "Well, that's how it is~"

Kim had previously posted on her personal homepage in 2008 opposing imports of US beef during candlelight protests, after which her name was reportedly placed on a cultural blacklist during the Lee Myung-bak administration. She won a lawsuit related to the blacklist in 2017 but continued to face politically motivated malicious comments in the years that followed. Last year she publicly announced she would file criminal complaints.
