A poster that intuitively highlights Yeosu-Gwangyang Port's standing as South Korea's top port for import and export cargo volume has taken first place in a public promotional design competition organized by the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority.

According to the authority, the winning entry — titled "Setting the Standard for South Korea's Logistics!" — distills the port's standing as the country's No. 1 port by import and export cargo volume into a bold, concise slogan.

Judges gave the work high marks for thematic relevance and communicative impact, praising its intuitive depiction of the port's role as a logistics hub and its symbolic representation of the port's national stature.

Gwangyang Port, including its container terminal, and Yeosu Port together trail Busan in total cargo volume. They handle an overwhelming share of iron ore and coking coal imports for Posco's Gwangyang steelworks, as well as crude oil imports and petrochemical product exports from the Yeosu petrochemical industrial complex.

The second-place entry, "Yeosu-Gwangyang Port: Sailing Beyond the Arctic Route to the Center of the World," vividly captures the port's vision of emerging as a hub in new global shipping networks, including the Arctic route.

The third-place work, "South Korea's No. 1 Port for Import and Export Cargo Volume! Yeosu-Gwangyang Port," was praised for presenting the port's status as a national gateway in an approachable way, making it well-suited for public outreach.

The competition ran from April 27 to May 29, accepting entries in any format — including posters, illustrations and webtoons — as part of an effort to build a more public-friendly image of the port.

"These award-winning works will play a major role in bringing Yeosu-Gwangyang Port closer and making it more familiar to a wider audience," said Choe Gwan-ho, president of the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority.

The authority plans to display the winning entries on lightbox panels at subway stations in the greater Seoul area and to use them in future promotional content for Yeosu-Gwangyang Port.
