Yuanta, Leading, Heungkuk join as new firms; selections reflect price discovery ability and trading performance

The Korea Financial Investment Association announced Friday it had selected securities firms to serve as final asking yield reporters for the second half of this year. Leading Investment & Securities and Heungkuk Securities were newly added to the bond final asking yield reporting panel, while Yuanta Securities Korea joined the commercial paper (CP) final asking yield reporting panel for the first time.

The association selects firms with strong price discovery ability every six months, taking into account their bond and CP trading performance.

The bond final asking yield reporters selected are KB Securities, NH Investment & Securities, Leading Investment & Securities, Meritz Securities, Heungkuk Securities, Bookook Securities, Shinhan Investment, Cape Securities, Korea Investment & Securities and Hanyang Securities.

In this round, SK Securities and Mirae Asset Securities were dropped from the panel and replaced by Leading Investment & Securities and Heungkuk Securities, resulting in two changes among the 10 firms.

The CP final asking yield reporters selected are NH Investment & Securities, Bookook Securities, BNK Investment & Securities, Eugene Investment & Securities, Hanyang Securities, Yuanta Securities Korea, Shinhan Bank and Hana Bank.

Yuanta Securities Korea replaced Hyundai Motor Securities on the CP panel in this round.

The final asking yields submitted by reporting firms are published daily by the association and serve as benchmark interest rates in the bond and CP markets.

The bond final asking yield serves as a benchmark rate for the domestic bond market. It is calculated by taking the yields submitted by the 10 reporting firms for 16 bond issues, excluding the top two and bottom two extreme values, and averaging the remainder. The association calculates and publishes the rate based on 4 p.m. each business day.

The CP final asking yield is calculated by taking the rates submitted by six securities firms engaged in CP brokerage and two banks that also conduct merchant banking operations, excluding the highest and lowest extreme values, and averaging the rest.
