Companies to jointly develop high-performance packaging for frozen and high-heat environments

CJ CheilJedang announced Friday that it has signed an MOU with Lotte Chemical to jointly develop new high-performance packaging materials aimed at improving consumer convenience and safety.
The agreement combines CJ CheilJedang's food packaging R&D capabilities with Lotte Chemical's materials technology to develop next-generation packaging suited for both ultra-low-temperature frozen logistics and high-heat cooking environments.
The signing ceremony was held Thursday morning at CJ Blossom Park in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, with Eric Sogianto, CJ CheilJedang's global packaging business leader, and Lee Hyeon-seop, executive vice president of Lotte Chemical's basic materials R&D division, among those in attendance.
The two companies plan to collaborate closely from the earliest stages of raw material design to reduce the risk of packaging damage during frozen storage and retail distribution, and to develop materials compatible with microwave cooking.
They will particularly focus on strengthening thermal and physical properties — including cold and heat resistance — to improve both content protection and ease of use for consumers.
"This agreement is a meaningful starting point where a materials company and a food brand come together from the very beginning of development to build packaging solutions optimized for real-world use," a CJ CheilJedang official said.
