Integrated AX push across SKC and portfolio companies
Enterprise generative AI solutions under review
Role-based training and in-house AI expert development planned
SKC announced Friday that it has established a dedicated organization to drive its AI transformation, or AX, and is building a company-wide framework for AI adoption.
SKC, the chemicals and materials affiliate of SK Group, set up the "AI Frontier Task Force" earlier this year under CEO Kim Jong-woo to oversee AX across the entire company. The task force officially launched last month and includes members not only from SKC but also from its portfolio companies — SK Nexilis, SK Picglobal, ISC, Absolics and SK Livio.
The task force will identify and develop AX initiatives tied to actual business operations and lead practical AI adoption in collaboration with outside experts. It also plans to establish clear AI usage guidelines to help employees navigate challenges that arise during the adoption process.
SKC is also working to build an environment that supports AI use. In addition to A.Biz, the in-house work-focused AI agent already in use, the company plans to evaluate enterprise generative AI solutions — including a corporate version of ChatGPT — to build the infrastructure employees need to apply AI in their daily work.
AI training for employees will be strengthened as well. Building on AI literacy programs that began last year, SKC will expand its offerings this year to include a tailored "AI Leadership" course for executives and team leaders. The company also plans to cultivate in-house AI experts by giving employees hands-on opportunities to identify and carry out AX projects in their own roles.
"AI is already an unstoppable force reshaping the paradigm across industries and has become the defining factor in a company's future competitiveness," an SKC official said. "We will accelerate company-wide AX through dedicated organizational operations, an AI-friendly environment and stronger employee capabilities, and ensure that translates into tangible results."
