All departments and affiliated agencies to present briefings Thursday and Monday as mayor-elect reviews key priorities and sets direction for the 9th elected-term administration
Yu Dong-gyun, mayor-elect of Mapo-gu, will receive departmental briefings over two days — Thursday and Monday — at Majung Hall of Mapo Central Library, reviewing policy priorities and setting the governing direction for the 9th elected-term administration.
The briefings build on transition committee sessions that began June 16 and are designed to give the incoming mayor a comprehensive picture of district operations and establish the policy framework for the next four years.
Participants will include all bureaus, offices and divisions of Mapo-gu, as well as affiliated agencies — the Mapo Welfare Foundation, the Mapo Culture Foundation and the Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
Discussions will cover general organizational matters such as staffing and structure, as well as the 9th-term administration's strategic priorities, key pending projects, projects flagged for review, campaign pledges, landmark initiatives and items raised during the transition committee process.
On the first day of briefings Thursday, Yu and other participants exchanged wide-ranging views on tangible improvements residents could feel and put forward various proposals centered on the core priorities of the incoming administration.
The policy ideas taking shape through the briefings are expected to drive Mapo-gu's transformation over the next four years, laying the groundwork for bolder innovation and a better quality of life for residents.
"Administration does not move forward on one person's thinking alone — it finds its best direction when diverse opinions and wisdom come together," Yu said. "I will actively listen to the civil servants who know the field best, work with them collaboratively to minimize trial and error, and deliver changes that residents can actually feel."
He added that anyone with ideas or suggestions for improving district governance was welcome to speak up at any time. "I will build the 9th elected-term administration together with everyone, grounded in open communication," he said.
