Gallery Belvi in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will present a solo exhibition by artist Gam Seong-bin, titled "Humbly, the Dark Night," from June 27 through July 18. The show marks Gam's first solo exhibition in Seoul in about eight years, exploring the grief and loss that have long run through his practice — and the sense of consolation that follows.
Gam has long worked with sculpture and painting to examine sorrow, which he regards as the most honest emotion a person can face. The quietly still figures and forms left in darkness across his works invite viewers to slowly confront their own wounds and memories.
"Gam Seong-bin's work makes us look at emotions we cannot easily bring ourselves to express," said Yoon Seong-ji, director of Gallery Belvi. "I hope this exhibition gives each visitor a chance to face their own dark night with a little more tenderness."
