Participating in the project since 2016, company has renovated 12 aging homes

Hoban Construction has received a commendation from the minister of Patriots and Veterans for its contributions to improving the housing conditions of national merit recipients and their families.

The company announced Thursday that it received the ministerial commendation June 24 at the "2026 National Merit Recipients Housing Improvement Project Commemorative Event" held at FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul.

The housing improvement project is a corporate social responsibility initiative jointly run by the Korea Housing Builders Association, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Its goal is to renovate aging homes belonging to national merit recipients and their families living in substandard conditions, providing a safer and more comfortable living environment.

The commendation recognized Hoban Construction's sustained participation in the project and its contributions to improving the quality of life for national merit recipients and their families. The ministerial commendation is awarded based on a comprehensive assessment of each participating company's length of involvement, support track record and overall social contribution.

Hoban Construction has taken part in the housing improvement project since 2016, providing renovation support for a total of 12 aging homes to help stabilize recipients' living conditions.

Hoban Group also participates in the initiative through its affiliate Hoban Property, which has been involved since 2011, meaning the group has sustained related support activities for 15 consecutive years.

This year, Hoban Construction extended renovation support to a national merit recipient living in an approximately 50-year-old home in Dobong-gu, Seoul. The recipient, a war-wounded veteran, had long faced daily inconveniences due to the home's deterioration. Following an on-site inspection, the company carried out improvement work including wallpaper and flooring replacement and the removal of door thresholds.

"We are deeply honored to be able to contribute, even in a small way, to improving the living conditions of national merit recipients and their families who have dedicated themselves to the country," a Hoban Construction official said. "We will continue to expand our social contribution activities and work to promote a culture of honoring veterans while improving their housing welfare."

Hoban Group carries out a range of social contribution activities beyond veterans housing support, including disaster recovery assistance, aid for vulnerable groups and scholarship programs. Since 2023, its employees have also conducted environmental cleanup volunteer activities at the War Memorial of Korea and Seoul National Cemetery to reflect on the values of national service and patriotism.
