The 2026 Seongdong Silver Musical comes to Sowol Art Hall on Tuesday, with 12 senior residents performing as cultural artists in their own right
Seoul's Seongdong-gu will host the silver musical "Youth and Memories" at Sowol Art Hall at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The performance is a cross-generational cultural event featuring 12 senior residents of Seongdong-gu alongside invited singers, weaving together the memories and life stories of the older generation through song.
The show is built around three chapters — "Memories of Youth," "The Joys and Sorrows of Life," and "Togetherness and Festival" — linking music and storytelling to capture the varied moments of a lifetime. The production aims to surface memories and emotions that audiences of any age can relate to, fostering connection across generations while offering warmth to the crowd.
Particularly meaningful is that the senior participants take the stage themselves, showcasing skills they have honed over time as active participants in cultural and artistic life. The district hopes the event will broaden opportunities for seniors to engage with their community and help invigorate local cultural activities that residents of all ages can enjoy together.
The performance will also feature a special guest set by singer Lee Su-na, known as the "filial daughter singer," making the stage a celebration that audiences across generations can share.
Admission is free for all Seongdong-gu residents on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact the Seongdong District Office's Culture and Sports Division.
"This silver musical is a meaningful performance in which seniors themselves become the protagonists, sharing their lives, memories and passion on stage," a district official said. "We will continue to expand opportunities for seniors to participate in cultural and artistic activities and pursue a range of cultural projects that foster communication and empathy across generations."
