The Korea Radioactive Waste Agency announced Wednesday that it recently hosted a radiochemical analysis technology exchange forum at its Radioactive Waste Analysis Center inside the disposal facility in Gyeongju.

About 50 nuclide analysis experts attended the forum, representing institutions including the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Central Research Institute, the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning Institute, and the Korea Nuclear Environmental Restoration Research Institute.

Discussions covered the latest nuclide analysis technology across several topics, including the current state of nuclide analysis at each institution, research and development efforts to assess nuclide inventories in decommissioning waste, and the development of radioactive waste upcycling technology.

"The Radioactive Waste Analysis Center, which began full operations this year, will do its utmost to lead the domestic field of radioactive waste nuclide analysis and build public trust through safe waste management," said Cho Seong-don, president of the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency.
