The L-Life Industry Support Center at Daegu Health College held an Eyewear Industry Advancement Committee meeting June 22 at the Interbulgo EXCO Hotel ballroom in Daegu, bringing together industry, academia, research and government representatives to discuss ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the region's eyewear sector.

The event was organized as part of the RISE (Regional Innovation-centered University Support System) and Regional Growth Talent Development System (Anchor) projects, aimed at bolstering the competitiveness of the eyewear industry — a traditional local sector — and building a foundation for sustainable growth.

About 30 people attended, including Kim Young-geun, executive vice president for administration, along with representatives from the Korea Optical Industry Promotion Institute, the Korea Optical Industry Cooperative, and local eyewear companies.

Participants shared the operational direction of corporate support programs for the eyewear industry and discussed ways to build a support framework that reflects the needs of businesses.

Kim, who also serves as a professor in the occupational therapy department, said the university would "work closely with local industries through the RISE and Anchor projects to help strengthen the competitiveness of the eyewear industry and nurture locally rooted professionals."
