Seoul Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon on Wednesday expressed gratitude to residents who have contributed to local development through volunteer service and community sharing.

Jin attended the "2026 First-Half Exemplary and Outstanding Resident Commendation Ceremony" at the Magok Seoul Startup Hub mPlus, where he said, "Gangseo's development and growth are all thanks to you."

"The residents who have worked behind the scenes to accelerate local development, shared warmth with neighbors, and strived to build a community where everyone thrives together — you are the driving force behind a greater Gangseo," he said. "I am deeply grateful for your dedication and love."

At the ceremony, eight teams and 40 individuals received commendations.

In the group category, honors went to Gangseo Byeolbit Space Science Center, Exem, Alto Art Hagwon, the Gangseo-gu branch of the Seoul Outdoor Advertising Association, the Gangseo-gu Korean Medicine Association, the Hwagokbon-dong Saemaul Women's Association and Red Cross Volunteer Corps, and the Ujangsan-dong Hope Dream Team.

The groups were recognized for contributions across a range of fields, including operating astronomy programs, nurturing AI talent, and improving public facility environments through pro bono services.

Individual honorees included volunteers who deliver side dishes and provide meals to vulnerable residents and organize community sharing events, as well as honorary reporters for Gangseo Kachi News and members of the Gangseo SNS Supporters group — all unsung residents whose good deeds and exemplary conduct have enriched communities across the district.
