The Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA), led by President Kim Won-seop, held an entrance ceremony and the first session of its 9th Professional Teaching Course at the KPGA Building on Tuesday.
The Professional Teaching Course is an introductory instructor program designed to help KPGA professionals and tour professionals translate the experience and expertise they built as players into systematic teaching skills.
The 9th cohort will accommodate around 30 trainees across five sessions. The curriculum covers teaching philosophy and psychology, functional anatomy and assessment, coaching, delivery, and a final integrated demonstration. Trainees must complete session-by-session assignments, submit a final lesson plan, and pass a teaching demonstration evaluation to earn certification.
Those who meet the completion and final assessment requirements will receive the KPGA Class A Professional designation, the association's official credential for teaching specialists.
Starting this year, the KPGA plans to run the Professional Teaching Course twice annually. Following the 9th cohort in the first half of the year, the 10th cohort is scheduled for October and will also recruit around 30 participants.
"This year we have improved access to the program and restructured it around core competencies," a KPGA official said. "We hope this lays the groundwork for more members to grow into professional instructors."
