Continental Tires announced Wednesday that it will supply original equipment tires for Volkswagen's new compact SUV, the T-Roc.

Volkswagen has approved the EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S as the summer OE tires for the new T-Roc, according to Continental Tires. The new T-Roc is Volkswagen's flagship compact SUV, featuring an updated design, a redesigned interior and a range of driver-assistance functions.

The EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S are premium summer tires developed with a focus on energy efficiency and ride quietness. The EcoContact 7 emphasizes low rolling resistance and efficiency, while the EcoContact 7 S builds on that efficiency with enhanced sporty driving performance.

Both tires incorporate a special rubber compound and "Smart Energy Casing" technology to reduce internal friction and rolling resistance, improving energy efficiency. They also feature an aerodynamically optimized sidewall design and "AeroDimple" technology — inspired by the surface of a golf ball — to further boost driving efficiency.

Ride quietness has also been improved. Continental Tires said it applied a "Silent Pattern" tread design to reduce noise while driving. Tread block arrangement and angles were optimized specifically for the noise frequencies most commonly generated in urban driving environments.

The EcoContact 7 will be fitted to the new T-Roc in 16-, 17- and 18-inch sizes, while the EcoContact 7 S will be available in 16-, 17- and 19-inch sizes.

For customers who want year-round capability, Volkswagen has also recommended the AllSeasonContact 2. The tire delivers balanced performance on dry, wet and snowy surfaces, with low rolling resistance and driving stability.

For winter driving, the WinterContact TS 870 is recommended. The tire features an optimized tread pattern and sipe structure to ensure stable grip on snow and ice, while providing strong braking and handling performance in cold conditions.

Continental, founded in 1871, posted sales of approximately 19.7 billion euros ($22.4 billion) in 2025 and currently employs about 78,000 people across 54 countries and markets. Its premium tire lineup covers passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles and specialty tires, as well as smart solutions and services for vehicle and tire retailers.
