Veteran actor Jeon Won-ju, 86, has introduced her great-grandchildren to the public while sharing candid thoughts on reaching a new milestone in life.
A video titled "Jeon Won-ju becomes a great-grandmother — introducing her adorable great-grandchildren" was posted Monday on her YouTube channel "Jeon Won-ju Inyong."
Jeon greeted viewers with news that a great-granddaughter had recently been born, smiling as she said, "I'm no longer a grandmother — I'm a great-grandmother now."
She then spoke with characteristic frankness. "I should be happy, but honestly, my first thought was, 'I guess it must be getting close to my time to go,'" she said.
The producer pushed back warmly. "What kind of thing is that to say? This is something to celebrate," he said, offering his congratulations.
The video then showed her great-grandchildren. Jeon expressed affection over footage of her 20-month-old great-grandson eating corn, calling him "adorable."
Her 40-day-old great-granddaughter also made an appearance. When the producer remarked, "You must want to give her everything," Jeon quipped, "I don't want to give her everything" — drawing laughter from those present.
Still, she said seeing her great-granddaughter never failed to bring a smile to her face. "Time passes so fast, but I thought to myself: at least I haven't lived like a fool. I need to work harder and live long enough for them to grow up knowing who their great-grandmother is," she said.
